Sand to Band
working draftI appreciate range, being a generalist, tending towards a Polymath.
Did you know that Sand is one of the few materials that a lot of modern civilization is built on? The silicon that powers the device you are reading this on, the screen that you are seeing the words on, and roof over the head of a large population of the world all comes from a variant of sand.
I like to learn about the smallest of electrons and quarks that make up everything at the microscopic level and at the same time I enjoy learning about the starts and how even the tiniest of variation in initial conditions could have resulted in the universe collapsing on itself.
It is amazing that we exist and have built what we have and learnt and understand so much about the physical world and things around us. Yet there are things that we have no idea how they work, or why they work. What is consciousness, what gives rise to it? Is cognition computation? A lot of solid viewpoints and arguments but we don't still now a lot.
I grew up playing and making games. Games, music, art, social interactivity, are all activities that we enjoy as we navigate the Purusharthas or climb higher on Maslows Hierarchy of Needs, untill we get to transcendence or self-actualization where it might matter or not (I'll know more when I get there). But, on topic, metaphorically I feel bands represent one side of the world expression, meaning and self-determination compared to one side of knowledge, physicality and systems represented by sand.
So the endeavor then is to stay curious, keep my mind open to the wonders of the world and keep learning from Sand to Band.
